The Summerville Family YMCA will host their 8th Annual Oyster Shindig on Friday from 6-10 p.m. at The Pine Forest Club.
“It really is lots of fun for everyone that attends and there is never a dull moment. All the kids have fun there and it is very family-oriented,” said Summerville YMCA Marketing Director Ashley Webb. “You’re also helping to support people in your community.”
Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the YMCA Annual Support Campaign. The campaign “scholarships people in” to the YMCA who cannot afford memberships. Each situation is dependent on the individual and no one is turned down according to Webb.
Last year the YMCA raised $80,000 for the campaign and is aiming for $96,300 this year. They are currently 71 percent to their goal.
Along with steamed oysters, pizza, Chick-Fil-A, Sticky Fingers and various desserts will be served. The Lowcountry’s own East Coast Party Band will perform as well.
“The Oyster Shindig is for the community and to help the community,” said Webb.” We want them to know we’re here for them.”
Tickets can be purchased until Friday at 1 p.m. at the Downtown Wellness or The Ponds locations.
The cost is $30 for adults, $15 for children 5-12 and free for children four and under. They can also be purchased at the door for $35 each. All tickets can be redeemed for one free round of golf courtest of Pine Forest County Club.
