Student brings knife to school

  • Friday, November 15, 2013

Dubose Middle School SRO filed an incident report with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office regarding a student who was found to have brought a knife to school on Nov. 4.

The juvenile was seen at the bus stop, on the bus, in the school courtyard and in class with a folding pocketknife according to multiple students who reported it to school authorities.

The student admitted to having the knife and school authorities removed it from his person. They then searched the student’s locker, person and book bag but no other weapons were found.

The 3.5-inch bladed black knife with a silver colored skull design handle was turned over to the SRO. The student told school officials he mistakenly brought it to school but denied showing it off to other students. The student was arrested for Carrying Weapon on School Property.

When the student’s mother arrived, she invoked her child’s rights and the student was released with custodial promise to the mother.
