Dorchester Habitat for Humanity began construction on its 49th house Thursday morning.

More than two dozen volunteers gathered to build and raise the walls at the construction site, located on Weber Road in Summerville.

Natasha Speller will be the recipient of the new home. The single mother of four has been volunteering with Dorchester Habitat for two years and has helped build seven houses, including her own.

The house is one of four Dorchester Habitat plans to build on the property, which First Federal donated, according to Resource Development Manager Monica Nagy.

Dorchester Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit organization and economical housing ministry that builds homes for those in need.

Home recipients must qualify financially as well as perform 425 sweat equity hours volunteering with the organization, working on houses including their own.
