Thousands filled Summerville Town Hall plaza and Hutchinson Square Dec. 3 for the annual Summerville Tree Lighing Ceremony sponsored by the Flowertown Garden Club.
Garden Club President Janice Messex welcomed the crowd and introduced the performers and speakers.
The program included a musical performance by the second grade choir from Pinewood Preparatory School which sang under the direction of Erin Bromley.
The Summerville Brass Ensemble of the Summerville High School performed under the direction of Leslie Gilreath and Dr. Justin Clarkson.
The invocation was given by Rev. Bob Howell, senior minister at Bethany United Methodist Church.
The performers also included the Summerville High School Chorus under the direction of Joe Ford
Following the lighting, the Saxophone ensemble performed.
The event closed with the singing of “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” led by Jan Martin.
