Summerville Police responded to Summerville Medical Center, Dec. 8, at 3 a.m. for a reported gunshot wound and attempted murder on Weber Road in Palmetto Park.
Emergency Room personnel told police the victim had a “through and through” gunshot wound to his right tibia. They said he gave them several different stories as to how the wound had happened as well as providing them with two different social security numbers. They said the victim was brought to the hospital by two people who were sitting in the waiting room.
The victim refused to respond to police questions or give his name to police.
The victim’s mother identified him to police.
The two in the waiting room, questioned separately by two officers, told police that as they were leaving a residence on Weber Rd., two vehicles drove by and gunfire erupted.
SPD was able to locate spent shell casings in the roadway at the address.
One of the witnesses accused police of “trying to trip him up” and refused to offer details, just a general overview.
When police went back to ask more questions of the witnesses they had vanished and could not be located at their residence.
The incident is under investigation.
