Green Wave grapplers win Cane Bay Duals

Rob Gantt/Journal Scene Tyler Fachko (top) helped the Green Wave wrestling team earn the Cane Bay Duals title Saturday.

The Summerville wrestling team won the Cane Bay Duals Saturday.

The Green Wave defeated cross-town rival Fort Dorchester 50-15 in the championship match. Summerville’s Ngai Murray (106-pounds), James Sass (113), Ryan Harder (132), Robert English (138), Daniel Smith (145) and Devin Kicklighter (285) all won by pinfall while Tyler Fachko (126) won by technical fall.

Summerville advanced to the championship with an 84-0 win over Baptist Hill, 84-0 win over West Ashley, 57-15 win over Bluffton and 69-12 win over Cane Bay.

Bluffton placed third after beating Wando 48-34 in the third-place match. Cane Bay placed fifth. Trailing were Carolina Forest, Conway, Battery Creek, Beaufort, James Island, West Ashley and Hanahan.

The Green Wave grapplers continued to roll through the competition this week, earning a 48-27 win on the road Monday at Wando. Murray (106), Sass (113), William Hunter (120), Smith (152), John Van Slooten (160), Anthony Collins (170), Robert Larson (195) and Julian Gibbs (220) all won by pin for Summerville.
