Concern for students
Summerville Police were contacted by the Safety/Security Coordinator for Dorchester District 2 in reference to an email received by the principal of Rollings Middle School over the weekend. The email indicated the sender’s “friend” was depressed and might be suicidal.
The principal responded with no acknowledgement from the sender. Attempts to track the email through the school’s data base was unsuccessful. The IP address was traced to Google servers in California and SPD faxed a subpoena to the custodian of records for Google and they responded with the subscriber information. The “anonymous student” was located via this information and was contacted by guidance counselors. The student told counselors the email was sincere and she was concerned about several students but not one in particular.
Guidance counselors will follow up with the student.
Do it in private
Summerville Police on patrol saw a man lying on the ground to the entrance of Chick Fil A drinking an alcoholic beverage. They saw him toss the can on the ground as well as a cigarette box. He then opened a new can.
Police reminded the man he had been warned about drinking in public about an hour earlier. He was arrested and charged with alcohol violations.
