The Swamp Fox boys came up just short against Stratford Dec. 23.
Ashley Ridge fell 54-51 to the Knights on the final day of the R.B. Stall holiday tournament. The Swamp Foxes finished 1-2 at the tournament as their overall record fell to 4-6. The win came over St. Johnís and the other loss was to Goose Creek, which went on to claim the tournament championship.
Ashley Ridge had a solid start against the Knights, pulling out to a 9-7 lead in the first period and taking a 26-22 lead into the half. But Stratford came out of the locker room and outscored Ashley Ridge 15-7 in the third and then held on for the win.
Ashley Ridge senior Corbin Landers led all scorers with 25 points while Sean White and Tray Jenkins both added 7 points for the Swamp Foxes.
Thad Thompson led Stratford with 19 points and Demetre Rivers added 13 points for the Knights.
Ashley Ridge returns to action at 3:30 p.m. Jan. 4 when they host a team from Australia. The Swamp Foxes host Wando at 6 p.m. Jan. 7 and Stratford for the rematch at 7 p.m. Jan. 10.
