Pancake breakfast

The Dorchester Dragons swimming and basketball teams are holding a pancake breakfast from 8-10 a.m. Jan. 18 at the Applebees located at 88 Old Trolley Road in Summerville to raise money for trips to the National Special Olympics Games. The Dorchester Dragons basketball team will compete in June while the swim team will compete in May. Tickets for the breakfast are $7. Registration for the Summerville Soccer Club Spring Season closes Jan. 10. For more information, visit www.summervillesoccerclub.com.

13U baseball

The 13U South Carolina Assailants baseball organization will be holding open tryouts in January. The team practices in the Ladson area and will be training with coaches, paid trainers, staff and players from local colleges and high schools. Coaches plan for the team to play in multiple local tournaments and out of state tournaments. Season fees will be based on the final tournament schedule. Youth baseball, softball

The North Charleston Recreation Department has opened baseball and softball registration for ages 4-15 and is seeking team sponsors. Registration for 2014 youth programs will run through January. Registration cost is $30 for residents and $60 for non-residents. Registration can be done online at www.northcharleston.org and will also be taken at various recreation department facilities. Various levels of team sponsorships are available, starting at $250. For more information call the 24-hour information line at 740-2699 or check out the website.

Travel baseball tryouts

Summerville Sharks Baseball is scheduling tryouts for players age 9-16. For more information, call Trey or John 514-5761 or 200-5721.

SSC volunteers

The Summerville Soccer Club needs parents of players to sign up for volunteer days. There is a schedule posted on the website (www.summervillesoccerclub.com/Volunteer/index_E.html ) for Game Days, Picture Day and Year-End Jamboree. The club needs volunteers for each. Contact volunteer coordinator Mary Rita Watson (maryritawat@yahoo.com) to schedule a time slot. There are also volunteer opportunities for the concession stand.
