Assault not so simple
Dorchester County Sheriff’s School Resource Officer responded to an assault complaint Dec. 13, in Summerville, from the mother of a 13-year-old. She told police that her son was assaulted n the school bus by two boys who punched him in the face and sat on him, forcing him out of his seat.
The SRO viewed the video surveillance from the bus and watched the two boys do what the victim said they had done. The SRO heard them call the boy names and threaten him.
Both boys were arrested and charged with Interfering with a School Bus and Simple Assault. They were released to their parents on Custodial Promise.
Dorchester County Sheriff’s deputies were notified by Old Fort Fire Company Dec. 24, of a suspicious fire that, according to fire Captain Evans, was deliberately set with leaves and pine straw on the back porch of a duplex on Hickory Lane in Summerville.
Mobile drug sales?
Summerville Police responded to North Main Market Jan. 1 for a report of a suspicious male. The man was reported to be walking around the Walmart parking lot peering into cars. Police located the individual near the garden center. When the man saw police he dropped the two bags he had been carrying. When asked what was in the bags, he told police “marijuana and meth.” Inside the bags, police found marijuana, and meth.
In a Newport cigarette box on the subject’s person, they found multiple tabs of what the subject identified as Lortab. The subject, who is homeless, told police the wallet on his person with identification belonging to another man with the same last name, was a family member’s.
Police seized the drugs – 1.5 gross grams of marijuana, 0.5 gross grams, meth and 10 Lortab tablets.
The man was charged with drug violations and remanded to Berkeley County LEC.
