Fort and Ashley Ridge split road games

File Alexis Frost scored 8 points in Beaufort Tuesday to help the Lady Patriots win their region opener.

Fort Dorchester and Ashley Ridge split their games Tuesday in Beaufort County.

The Lady Patriots opened region play with a 58-46 win over the Lady Eagles of Beaufort. Fort Dorchester had a strong start in the game and opened up a 17-point lead in the third period before Beaufort rallied to make a game of it.

Erika Cobb led the Fort scorers with 16 points while Jailah Melvin and Victoria English also reached double digits, finishing with 11 and 10 respectively. Jordan Spruill and Alexis Frost both chipped in 8 points for the Pats.

Mattie Hibbs led all scorers with 17 points and Aaliyah Smalls added 10 for Beaufort.

Fort Dorchester improved to 5-6 on the season while Beaufort fell to 3-10.

The Fort Dorchester boys fell 47-44 to Beaufort, their second loss to the Eagles this season. The rematch was a back-and-forth affair.

Eric Hayward led the Patriot scorers with 14 points and William Munoz added 9. Kendrick Colvin led Beaufort with 15 points while Adonis Grant added 11 for the Eagles and Jawan Mack 9.

Beaufort improved to 12-1 on the season while Fort Dorchester dropped to 8-3.

The Ashley Ridge girls opened region play with a 48-30 win at Bluffton. Ashley Ridge fell behind by 5 points in the first period but then outscored Bluffton 15-7 in the second and 16-0 in the third to put the game away.

Katie Burnette led the way with 12 points while Shelby Daly added 9 for the Lady Swamp Foxes and Ashley Tierney 8.

Dynasty Mervin led Bluffton with 13 points.

Ashley Ridge improved to 9-4 on the season with the win.

The Ashley Ridge boys (5-9) followed a loss in overtime to Stratford last Friday with a 57-51 loss in overtime to Bluffton Tuesday. Bluffton took a small lead in the first period, but Ashley Ridge outscored the Bobcats 23-17 in the fourth to tie the game.

In overtime, Bluffton outscored Ashley Ridge 10-4.

Tray Jenkins led the Swamp Fox scorers with 16 points and Corbin Landers added 9 for Ashley Ridge. Bluffton had two players post double-digit scoring.

The Ashley Ridge teams host the Fort Dorchester teams Friday. The girls are scheduled to tipoff at 7 p.m.
