On Jan 7, unknown subjects burglarized both Ultra Tan and Pinky Nails, on Berkeley Circle in Summerville.
Summerville Police were called to Ultra Tan around 2:25 a.m. Jan. 7, by Berkeley County Sheriff’s deputies who said they had seen businesses that were burglarized while on routine patrol. BCSO was actively investigating other burglaries in the area.
When Summerville officers arrived they saw an open door with its lock damaged. However, the interior of the premises looked undisturbed and the cash register was intact with cash in it.
The regional manager was called and said nothing looked out of place. The surveillance video showed a subject dressed in a dark-colored hoodie obscuring most of his face although the small part that could be seen led police to believe he was a white male. The subject could be seen walking around the counter and going directly for the safe. However, after several unsuccessful attempts to lift the safe, the subject walked to another entrance, unlocked it and left the premises.
Police then looked at a neighboring business, Pinky Nails, around 3:20 a.m., and discovered it, too, had been burglarized. The lock had been removed from the door.
The owner responded and said approximately $100 from the front desk was missing. Prints were obtained, as were fresh tire tracks and a beer bottle.
