In its fourth year, The ARK’s premier fundraising event, Dancing With The ARK’s Stars (DWTAS), features a cast of celebrity dancers.

Dorchester County Probate Judge Mary Blunt is the event’s Mirror Ball Sponsor for the third consecutive year.

The public is invited to enjoy the elegant and fun event on Saturday, March 8 at 7 p.m. at Eidson Gym at Pinewood Preparatory School (1114 Orangeburg Road in Summerville).

Eight local celebrities and their professional dance partners from Carolina Dancesport will compete by dancing to win one of two titles.

The audience will vote for their favorite dancing couple just like the hit TV show “Dancing with the Stars.” Four couples will dance in each round, with the two couples receiving the most judges’ votes competing in a “dance off” to win the mirror-ball trophy. The couple receiving the most votes by dollars wins People’s Choice trophy.

Proceeds will help to provide essential services for families dealing with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia.

The ARK serves five counties throughout the Lowcountry. The ARK provides hope and relief to families living with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia through non-sectarian programs and support services such as Respite Care, Support Groups, Caregiver Consultation, Education, Resource Referrals, Corporate Caregiver Program, Speakers Bureau and Rural Services Development.

Votes are $10 each, and can be cast online at TheARKofSC.org.

The celebrity dancers are:

Sean Bennett, Asset Integration Consultants; Al Bradham, Carpet Care Services/Disaster Care Services; Pennie Folden, Murphy Law Firm; Sean Harrington, Transamerica Agency Network; Tauna Longest, AllCare Living Services; Virginia Tupper Pennington, Tupperway Construction; and Tessa Spencer, TV/radio personality
