AR TD Club Oyster Roast

The Touchdown Club of Ashley Ridge will have an Oyster Roast and Chili Cook-off from 6-10 p.m. Feb. 15 at Summerville (Miler) Country Club. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 at the door and include all-you-can-eat oysters, chili and desserts. The event will also include a silent auction and cash bar.

14U Baseball

The ShockWave Baseball program will have an open tryout for 14U players at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 26 at Pinewood Preparatory School. The ShockWave 14U team will begin play in early May. For tryout registration and details on the program go to www.shockwavebaseball.net.

SSC gears up for season

The 2014 Summerville Soccer Club Spring season is on its way. Select teams have started to practice and all teams that participate in the Coastal League will start soon. U4 to U8 teams will begin practicing in a few weeks with games starting March 1. Teams for the ages 4-8 will be formed in the week after Feb. 10. For kids who play on U6 and U8 teams the club will have evaluations Feb. 1 at 10 a.m. and Feb. 5 at 5:30 p.m. Visit www.summervillesoccerclub.com for more information.

T1D Tee Off

The Team William T1D Tee Off for Diabetes golf tournament kicks off Jan. 31 at Summerville Country Club. The event will include an adult captainís choice golf tournament Jan. 31 and a junior golf tournament Feb. 1. Both will benefit the Palmetto Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and Camp Adam Fisher.

The junior tournament is for golfers age 8-18 and is endorsed by the SCJGA so participants can earn ranking points. The registration fee is $45 per player and includes greens fee, a gift bag, T-Shirt and prizes. Registration for the adult four-man captainís choice tournament is $60 per player. Sponsorships are available with various perks.

13U baseball

The 13U South Carolina Assailants baseball organization will be holding open tryouts in January. The team practices in the Ladson area and will be training with coaches, paid trainers, staff and players from local colleges and high schools. Coaches plan for the team to play in multiple local tournaments and out of state tournaments. Season fees will be based on the final tournament schedule. Youth baseball, softball

The North Charleston Recreation Department has opened baseball and softball registration for ages 4-15 and is seeking team sponsors. Registration for 2014 youth programs will run through January. Registration cost is $30 for residents and $60 for non-residents. Registration can be done online at www.northcharleston.org and will also be taken at various recreation department facilities.
