The Ashley Ridge girls remain undefeated in region play but the Swamp Fox boys are still looking for their first region win.

The Lady Swamp Foxes held Beaufort to only 2 points in the opening period Tuesday and rode that momentum to a 55-28 home victory.

Ashley Ridge improved to 11-4 on the season with a 3-0 mark in Region 8-AAAA with the win.

“I thought our girls played hard but we were sloppy on the offensive end,” Ashley Ridge coach Chris Shaw said.

“Some of our bench players stepped up including Morgan Bowers, Shamaria Myers and Jada Speights. They gave us a good lift and should continue to help us as the season moves on.”

Shelby Daly scored a game-high 11 points to pace the Lady Swamp Foxes. Ariel Glover added 9 points.

Seven other Ashley Ridge players scored 4 or more points in the game.

On Friday, the Lady Swamp Foxes make the short trip to Summerville to face the Lady Green Wave, which is also 3-0 in region play.

“It’s nice to be 3-0 in the region but we have some huge games coming up and we are going to need to play much better and get contributions from everybody,” Shaw said.

The Ashley Ridge boys dropped to 0-3 in region play with a 54-46 loss to Beaufort.

Corbin Landers scored 14 points for the Swamp Foxes, but the Eagles had several players with the hot hand.

Jawan Mack scored 16 points and Adonis Grant added 15 to help the Eagles improve to 14-2 on the season.

One of Beaufort’s losses came in a region game with Summerville so now those two teams are tied for second place in the region behind Bluffton.
