Theaters colaborate on Betrayal

  • Wednesday, January 29, 2014

South of Broadway Theatre and Flowertown Players will present a production of “Betrayal” next month.

This is the second in the two companys’ “Next Stage” collaboration. “No Exit” was the first production of the partnership.

Flowertown Artistic Director JC Conway directs this half of “Next Stage;” SOBTC’s Artistic Director, Mark Gorman Directed “No Exit.”

Each show is presented first as an intimate production “in the round” and experiences a transformation as it travels up to Summerville to be presented in the 200-seat James F. Dean proscenium stage.

Each staging provides arresting changes and insights into Pinter’s popular script.

“Next Stage” is a joint endeavor by North Charleston’s Professional Theatre, South of Broadway Theatre Co., and Summerville’s Community Theatre, The Flowertown Players.

The goal is to provide both audiences and actors the opportunity to experience powerful modern works presented by both professional and community actors in two different venues.

See the play at SOBTC on Feb. 13, 14, 15, 17, 20, 21, 22 at 8 p.m., Feb. 16 at 3 p.m., or at Flowertown on Feb. 27, 28, and March 1, 6, 7, 8 at 8 p.m., and March 2 at 3 p.m.

All tickets are $18.
