  • Wednesday, January 29, 2014

The Church of Saint John the Beloved at 28 Sumter Avenue in Summerville will present Summerville classical singers Jill Terhaar Lewis, soprano, and Jennifer Luiken, mezzo soprano, in a program of vocal chamber music.

Luiken and Lewis will be joined by pianist Janet Elshazly and cellist Terry Muir in concert as part of the 2013-14 St. John the Beloved Concert Series on Sunday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m.

The program of classical chamber music will feature works by Brahms, Debussy, Previn and more including a premier performance of the Conrad Kocher hymn “For the Beauty of the Earth” arranged specially for the group by local composer and performer Robert Lewis.

Jennifer Luiken and Jill Terhaar Lewis have been performing as a duo for several years. They are frequent guests with the Piccolo Spoleto Festival and have performed recitals and concerts throughout the state.

This program is given as a gift to the community through the St. John the Beloved Concert Series. Donations will help to continue to support the concert series. Patrons should pay as they able; those who cannot donate are still warmly welcomed. For more information, contact St. John the Beloved Music at (843) 873-0631, ext. 15.
