Summerville author Alan Ables will sign copies of his book, Tale of the Tape: Two Unlikely Heroes Take Down the Dixie Mafia, at 1 p.m. Feb. 1 at Barnes and Noble (7620 Rivers Ave., North Charleston).
The action-adventure thriller was released in November 2013. Since then, it has broken several times into Kindle’s top-selling 100 espionage fiction list.
Set in the 1980s, it is based on historical events and how two ordinary people are drawn into circumstances beyond their worst nightmares. One reviewer commented that, “…the research which went into this book is evident on virtually every single page… For connoisseurs of quality fiction, this is a great find.”
Ables is a career naval officer who now resides in Summerville. He served in the Middle East, Asia and South America.
During the Bicentennial he was assigned to the Charleston Naval Base. He completed nearly 30 years of service as a speechwriter for Army, Navy, Marine Corps and Air Force general and flag officers, including the Air Force Chief of Staff.
