A school bus transporting Summerville High School students home Wednesday, Feb. 6, was involved in an accident on 17-A at the Indian Springs subdivision when a car pulled out of Navaho Rd., onto Route 17A.

There were 31 students on the bus who were checked at the scene and had no injuries. They were transferred to another bus and taken home. Parents of the students were contacted by school administration, says DD2 PIO Pat Raynor.

The driver of the bus was complaining of back injuries so she was transported to medical facilities, along with the driver of the other vehicle, for examination and evaluation. The Highway Patrol is investigating the accident.

Corporal Sonny Collins, SCHP, said the car pulled out in front of the bus which could not avoid a collison. The driver of the car will be cited for Failure to Yield the Right of Way, he said.
