Susan Roberts

Edisto Island photographer Susan Roberts has been chosen as the artist to represent the Summerville Family YMCA’s flagship fundraiser, the annual Flowertown Festival.

For the 2014 event, and for the first time, a photographer’s work will be utilized on the festival’s promotional materials.

A photo taken in her neighbor’s yard, Betty’s Favorite, is a photograph of a vivacious Hydrangea that can be found awash an array of flowers right here in Summerville.

The pink petals illuminate a background of green leaves, and its beauty not only brightens the photograph, |but the gardens in Azalea Park.

Because of its elegance and simplicity, Betty’s Favorite embodies the beauty of the Y’s Flowertown Festival and is the photograph primarily used for marketing the festival.

“The Y is so excited to use a photographer for the first time to represent the festival,” Linda Walton, Development Director at the Summerville Family YMCA said.

Robert’s artwork, Betty’s Azalea, Magnolia Study I, Yellow Jessamine and Camellia will also be used in the festival’s promotional materials as they exhibit familiar flowers in the Summerville area.
