Concrete, booze don’t mix…

On Jan. 21, at 2:49 p.m., Summerville Police were dispatched to a traffic accident on S. Main St., south of Five Points.

Arriving they found a concrete mixer on its side in a ditch. An officer contacted the driver, William Stanley Tillman, 51, of Summerville, and noted that the vehicle’s tires were still spinning. The officer told the driver to put the vehicle in “park” and Tillman responded that it was in “park.”

According to the incident report, another driver, who had called in the crash, told police she had followed the truck from the area of Boone Hill Rd. and Orangeburg Rd. and that the truck had been operating erratically and had run off the road several times. The witness said the truck had also stopped in the middle of an intersection.

While speaking with the witness, officers observed Tillman walking around unsteadily. They observed a strong odor of alcohol.

Tillman failed a Standard Field Sobriety test and was arrested and charged with DUI. When asked how many beers he had consumed, Tillman responded: “Probably 18.”

A breath analysis put his BAC at .07 percent.

Tillman was transported to the Dorchester County Detention Center to await a bond hearing.

Horrific ‘date’

A 20-year-old called the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office reporting that she had been raped Jan. 13. The victim told police she had been picked up at her home to go to a party around 9 p.m. by a man named “Dee” and that she only knew him by his nickname.

While headed down Jedburg Rd., the victim said the suspect pulled off into a paved road surrounded by trees. He then asked her to have sex with him. She said “no” and picked up her phone to call home at which point he grabbed her phone and began punching her in the face, and raped her, the report said.

The victim told police that the suspect dropped her off at a gas station. She said that he deleted all the messages between them along with his number, and wiped the phone down with his sweater before throwing it at her. He then took off down Hwy. 78 toward Deming Way.

She described him as a black male, 20 years old, 5 foot, 4 inches and 150 to 160 pounds with a dark low haircut with “waves,” brown eyes, a muscular build and a gap in his front teeth. She said he had a cone-shaped head and is “winged-footed” (feet point inward). She said he was wearing a black hoodies, grey jogging pants, white socks and bedroom slippers.

EMS responded and the victim was taken to Summerville Medical Center.
