Limestone lands three Swamp Fox football players
Four Ashley Ridge football players and a Swamp Fox soccer player inked college deals Wednesday.
The athletes signed a National Letter of Intent with the college of their choice during a National Signing Day Celebration held in the school’s auditorium.
Offensive lineman Tyler Moss, receiver/kick returner Donovan Thompson and receiver/running back Sean White all signed to play football for Limestone College.
Limestone finished last season with a 15-4 record with a 7-1 mark in Conference Carolinas action and nationally ranked in the final Division II poll. The Saints finished tied for 21st place in the nation.
Limestone notched back-to-back Conference Carolinas Regular Season and Tournament Championships last season and fell only a win shy of the program record for single-season wins.
Swamp Fox defensive lineman Josh Spigner signed with the Newberry College football team.
The Newberry Wolves finished the season ranked 25th nationally by D2Football.com. This ranking, coupled with a No. 23 final ranking from the American Football Coaches’ Association poll, marks the first time Newberry has finished in the top 25 of both polls since 2007.
Newberry finished the 2013 season with a 9-3 record and qualified for the NCAA Division II playoffs for just the second time in program history.
Sean Siehl signed with the Coker College Men’s Soccer Team.
The Coker Men fell in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Food Lion SAC Soccer Tournament. The Cobras finished the season with a 9-5-3 overall record, and 6-4-1 mark in the conference. They also finished the season ranked No. 10 in the Southeast region according to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and Continental Tire poll.
