Pinewood Senior Thomas Osborne signed his National Letter of Intent Wednesday to play soccer at Limestone College.
“I fell in love with Limestone from the minute I stepped on to the campus,” Osborne said. “I liked the small school feel, the small family atmosphere, the soccer team and the coaches.”
Limestone Head Coach Eric Alsop was equally impressed with Osborne.
“We are very excited that Thomas will be joining our program this fall,” Alsop said. “Thomas first caught our attention at our Fall ID camp, and we have had the pleasure of seeing him play in various club tournaments since then. We were most impressed with his athleticism, positive attitude and strong shot-stopping abilities. Plus, as a goalkeeper, he is very vocal and organizes his defensive unit well. We think Thomas will be a good addition to an already strong goalkeeping unit and we look forward to working with him this fall and throughout his career at Limestone College.”
Osborne has been a member of South Carolina United/Mount Pleasant since he was 14.
In 2011, he was Captain of his SCU/MP team that claimed a State Cup championship and went on to represent South Carolina at Regionals.
He was also a member of State Cup Runner up teams in 2012 and 2013. Osborne will once again represent South Carolina at Regionals in Baton Rouge this summer.
“Thomas is a quiet but very consistent, mature, intelligent and assured personality that has dedicated himself fully to playing collegiately over the past year,” SCU/MP coach Sachin Patel said. “He is a big part of the reason the 95 boys Elite had a great showing at Region 3 league play and booked a spot at Region Championships this summer. Thomas had numerous good offers to play at the next level; I and everybody associated with SC United Mt. Pleasant wish Thomas all the best in his future endeavors.”
Osborne has played on the Pinewood Varsity team since his ninth-grade year and has helped the team to three straight region championships as well as three straight state runner-up titles.
Osborne represented South Carolina in the U15 Olympic Development Program. He was also a Development Player on the U16 South Carolina Battery Academy team and is currently a Development player on the U18 Academy team.
He plans to major in Sports Management.
