Ashley Ridge athletic boosters are encouraging Swamp Fox fans to lace up their sneakers and run for the team of their choice next month.

The third annual Ashley Ridge Fox Trot 5K is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 1 at the high school’s cross country course.

“This event gives participants the opportunity to race on a unique course that isn’t all pavement,” race director Reed Sauter said. “It’s a fun race for a good cause. When you sign up you can choose any Ashley Ridge athletic team and that team will receive the proceeds from your registration.”

The registration fee is $25 per runner up until race day when the cost jumps to $30. Students receive a $5 discount for early registration.

Registration is available at Active.com (http://www.active.com/summerville-sc/running/races/ashley-ridge-fox-trot-5k-2014).

Packet pick-up and late registration will be available from 7:30-8:45 a.m. the day of the race. Water stations will be provided and a medical staff will be available throughout the race. An awards ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m.

Sponsorship opportunities are also available. For more information on the event or sponsorship, email Sauter at j.reed.sauter@gmail.com.

“Last year we had over 100 people register,” Sauter said. “We are hoping to grow the event each year. I would love to see some of the cross country teams from other schools come out and put on a show. In fact, I challenge them to.”
