Woman reports burglary, kidnapping and assault

On Jan. 22 at 3 a.m., Dorchester County deputies were dispatched to a home on Lucille Road, in Ridgeville.

On arrival a harrowing story unfolded.

According to a female victim, her crack dealer known to her only as “New York” had burst into her home while she and a male victim were sleeping. The suspect started yelling at them to get out of bed and banging a pistol on the wall, she said.

“New York” had two pistols, she told police, and wanted to know where another housemate was. She said she was told by “New York” that he was at a club and someone with the same car as the housemate – a silver Ford Taurus – had broken into his house.

“New York” made them sit in the living room and wait for the other man to come home. They had waited 45 minutes, she said, when the suspect made them get in the front seat of his car and start driving while he held one gun on each of them from the backseat.

They picked up other comrades of “New York,” including a female, and drove around looking for the housemate. She told deputies they made a couple of stops during which they were locked in the car. Eventually they went back to her house where they waited another 30 minutes.

While waiting the female friend of “New York” came inside and said she had seen the Taurus drive by.

“New York” and comrades took off in their car after the Taurus and she told police she heard five to six shots fired.

She and the man went outside to call 911. When police arrived, the male victim told them he had been struck on the side of his head with a pistol. As the police were questioning the two a Taurus pulled into the driveway with the housemate who was shaking uncontrollably. He said he had driven by and seen “New York’s” car in the drive and kept going.

He told police that the suspect had shot at his car but that he didn’t think he was hit nor were the two passengers he had with him. He had dropped the passengers off at their residences prior to returning home.
