Gibbons need help

  • Thursday, February 13, 2014

The IPPL gibbon sanctuary needs volunteer help immediately to help with repairs and to bring water.

The ice storm has wreaked destruction at the International Primate Protection League in Summerville were a large number of gibbons have sanctuary.

The IPPL has no power and, consequently, no water. Further, branches have taken out fences, put holes in gibbon house roofs, destroyed a vehicle and there is no heat.

Gibbons are from warm/hot climates and donít tolerate cold well.

Staff have been on duty for around the clock trying to keep the gibbons safe. The otters have been relocated into the IPPL offices because their fence has been destroyed.

Volunteers are needd to help with cleanup, fence mending and runway repairs.

Financial help would also be appreciated.

Anyone willing and able to help is asked to call Tina at 843-901-0170.
