A robber armed with pepper spray took off with a North Main St., Summerville Walmart money cart Fri., Feb. 14 around midnight.
A Walmart employee told police she was walking the money cart back after emptying the self-checkout registers, when someone in a dark-colored hoodie pulled on the cart. She pulled back but the subject pulled harder and sprayed pepper spray in her face. A black female came “out of nowhere” witnesses say and drop kicked the employee, running out the door pulling the money cart. A black male followed her out spray pepper spray as he went. Several people were sprayed.
Another employee saw the struggle and attempted to help and was sprayed. The employee described a black male subject in his mid-thirties wearing a brown camouflage jacket, blue jeans and sneakers. The black female was in her late 20s with short black hair, a solid build, wearing a red shirt and sneakers.
Another employee observed two black males. Another employee saw a pick-up truck with a blue triangle on the driver's-side door leave the parking lot with the money cart in its bed. The truck was seen turning right on 17A toward I26.
A different employee saw a silver Dodge 1500 sitting by the grocery door while a thin black male wearing a camo jacket loaded the money cart. The male was approximately 5-foot, 10-inches tall. The employee followed the truck, at his manager's request, but could not keep up with it as it accelerated on I26 east.
