All three Dorchester Two high schools will have several grapplers at the 2014 Lowerstate Qualifying Tournament.
A total of 34 District Two wrestlers will compete in the tournament Feb. 21-22 in Beaufort for the chance to represent their school in the state wrestling individual championships to be held in Anderson Feb. 28-March 1.
The grapplers advanced by placing in the Top 4 for their weight class during the Region 8-AAAA tournament.
Ashley Ridge advanced a wrestler in all 14 weight classes and had five wrestlers make it to the finals of the region tournament. Summerville and Fort Dorchester advanced 10 wrestlers each with seven from each team advancing to the finals. Wrestlers who won their weight class at the tournament receive All-Region honors.
Winning their class at the region tournament were: Summervilleís James Sass (106-pound class), Tyler Fachko (126), Daniel Smith (145), Chad Wood (160) and Anthony Collins (170); Ashley Ridgeís Brett Downey (132), Tyler Morre (182) and Kenny Glover (285); and Fort Dorchesterís AJ Alford (152) and Quandre Chisholm (195).
Others finishing in the Top 4 were Ty Jamieson (AR/106), Ben Whitney (AR/113), Tyre Wright (FD/120), Ricky Jamieson (AR/120), Demitre McNeal (AR/126), Tre Morris (FD/132), Zane Grahm (FD/138), Christian Cuttino (AR/138), Chris Hudgens (AR/145), John Van Slooten (SHS/152), Ashton Hughes (AR/152), Jack Whitney (AR/160), Jacob Hutchinson (FD/170), Coltyn Remeika (AR/170), Joseph Hutchinson (FD/182), Corey Alumbaugh (SHS/182), Eric Henderson (SHS/195), Trey Tierney (AR/195), Julian Gibbs (SHS/220), Devin Parker (AR/220), Asa Gillard (FD/220), Tyese McDonald (FD/285) and Devin Kicklighter (SHS/285).
