Pick a faster get-away vehicle
On Feb. 17, a man sitting in his vehicle in the parking lot of Walmart in Summerville, told Summerville Police he had watched a black male drive an ECV – Electric Conveyance Vehicle – out of the parking lot, over a curb and down the street. The ECV is used for shoppers who have difficulty walking. The man was wearing a fuzzy hat, black coat and white pants. Police located the man near the Hampton Inn on Jockey Ct., where he fled on foot. He was located near the garden center at Walmart and charged with Grand Larceny.
Under cover of storm
Summerville Police took a report of theft of construction materials Feb. 14. According to the victim, on Feb. 11, a worker at a construction site in Branch Creek left early because of the ice storm. When they returned on Feb. 14, $6,122 worth of doors and windows were gone. The windows were Silverline brand and the doors were Therma True brand. There were 32 windows measuring 3-feet by 5-feet; 12 3-feet by 5-feet tempered; one TS10 6-panel door; two TS 6-panel and three TS118 full-view doors.
The windows and doors were stolen out of a detached garage on Creek Branch Trail.
