Recognition well deserved

  • Wednesday, February 26, 2014

To the Editor:

I was so pleased to see the 2014 Men to Watch naming Preston Giet as one of those men. I have known Preston since before he was born.

I hope Summerville and Dorchester School District Two realize how lucky they are to have him on their team; however, I have had the privilege of watching a particular group of boys grow up to be fine young men, from Little League Sports, church and school activities. Now that they are grown I have watched them interact with their families, children of others and each other. They have formed a strong bond of camaraderie, purpose and mutual goals that we as a community could use more of.

Preston Giet, along with Joe Call, Con Chellis, Brion Rutherford, Matt Legare, Eric Seitz and Darryl Tucker are the future of Summerville. Not just in sports but also in education and community involvement. Their positions in education and the community along with their enthusiasm, drive and determination will allow these young men to shape and mentor the young people of Summerville and I have no doubt that in the next few years Summerville and Dorchester County will be a force to be reckoned with in this state.

These young men deserve to be recognized for all they are and will become future leaders of Summerville and Dorchester County.
