Garden Club: Save the trees

  • Friday, February 28, 2014

To the Editor:

On behalf of the Flowertwon Garden Club of Summerville, I am writing to state that we unanimously oppose the cutting of trees on I-26.

The trees at issue have long served as a welcome to our beautiful lowcountry. Certainly there are other safety measures that can be taken that would best serve all who travel the highway. What a barren and more dangerous area this would become if trees are destroyed!

We appreciate Summerville town Council rescinding the vote to cut the trees. It is our hope, that along with our town, we continue to protect and be caretakers of our natural beauty now and for future generations.

(This letter was presented to Mayor Bill COllins prior to the COG meeting.)
