Drugs at school
A 14-year-old and a 15-year-old were suspended from Summerville High School Feb. 7 for bringing drugs to school. One student is facing an expulsion hearing. Summerville Police were called after a teacher observed the students in the bathroom with plastic bags of green leafy substances. The students turned over the bags.
Stalking a student
Summerville Police is investigating a complaint of stalking. On Feb. 21, the mother of a 15-year-old student reported to police that “some guy” was following her daughter home after school. The mother told police that the man followed her daughter’s school bus down Boone Hill Rd., in a red Oldsmobile. She said this was the third time the suspect was in the area – Brownsville – when her daughter exited the bus. She said on another occasion he yelled something at her daughter as she walked up to her residence. The mother wanted to document the activity “in case it escalated.”
According to the incident report, the student’s uncle told police her mother knows the suspect. The mother provided police the name of the suspect who is between 25 and 30 years of age.
Paying attention to accounts
Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office received a report of financial fraud from a woman who told them her paycheck for the amount of $1,500 was automatically deposited onto her G.E. Money Card Feb. 20. She said she made a few purchases that day but when she went to use her card for gas, it was rejected for insufficient funds.
She contacted her bank and was told there was a purchase on the card for $1,417.53 at a Target in Flushing, NY. Her bank told her to file a police report.
