The Ashley Ridge track and field teams had a strong showing Saturday during the Coca-Cola Lowcountry Invitational.

Led by its distance runners, the Swamp Fox boys tallied 100.50 points to place third in a 10-team field at Woodland High School. Hanahan finished with 161 points to win the boys’ meet and Woodland tallied 120 to claim runner-up honors.

“Our boys’ team is top heavy with distance runners,” Ashley Ridge coach Christine Evans said. “We have about five who will probably keep a good showing. Some of them surprised us Saturday. We weren’t expecting to see one of them breaking 10 flat in the two mile. We had a couple of milers who went sub-five so there were definitely some impressive times.”

Jackson Ellenburg won the 3,200-meter race with a 9:56.09 time. Will Henley placed second with an 11:27.63 time. Collin Burchette won the 800 with a 2:09.91 time and James Williams placed third with a 2:10.11 time.

Doug Torgerson placed second in the 1,600 with a 4:49.56 time. Tyler Ohsfeldt was just behind, placing third with a 4:57.42 time. Kendall Felder placed third in the 400 with a 52.49 time. Dashaun Santiago placed fourth in the 100 dash. Tristan Inman placed fifth in the 110-hurdles. Mitch Nixon placed fourth in the 400 hurdles. The Ashley Ridge 4x800 relay team placed second. The Swamp Fox 4x100 relay team placed fourth and the Swamp Fox 4x400 relay team placed fifth.

In the field events, Torgerson placed fourth in the high jump. Devin Parker placed fourth in the shot put.

The Ashley Ridge girls tallied 76 points to place fifth in a 10-team field. Colleton County finished with 97 points to win the girls meet and Woodland placed third with 91 points.

“Our girls are pretty much where they need to be,” Evans said. “We are expecting them to have a good showing toward the end of the year.”

Madison Salam led the way for the Lady Swamp Foxes. She won the pole vault with a 9-06.00 mark and placed third in the high jump with a 5-00.00 mark. She also helped the Lady Swamp Fox 4x100 relay team to a fourth-place finish.

Shannon Carroll placed second in the 400 with a 1:05.20 time. Sophie Belhassen placed third in the 3,200 and Savannah Sutton placed fifth. Megan Winningham placed fourth in the 800.
