Caveat emptor

Summerville Police met with a victim on March 4, in reference to stolen property. The victim told police he contacted the suspect, a black male, on Craigslist regarding an iPhone 4S that he had for sale. The man and the victim texted back and forth. The victim met the male at Tastee Freeze to buy the iPhone and paid him $200 in cash. Then the victim took the phone to a Verizon store and was advised it was stolen.

When he tried to contact the man who sold it to him his calls and messages were ignored. SPD ran the serial number which came back to a phone stolen in Dorchester County however, they were unable to make contact with the phone’s true owner but left him a message that his phone had been recovered.

Perils of alcohol

The 44-year-old victim said he was exiting Club NV earlier when he was “jumped” by four or five male suspects who threw him to the ground, hit him in the face repeatedly causing swelling and several teeth to be knocked out.

The victim smelled strongly of alcohol and was extremely verbally abusive toward police and medical staff. He was uncooperative and refused to provide any more information regarding the incident.
