Whitehead advances to regional Elks Hoop Shoot

Provided Tiana Whitehead, pictured here with Summerville Elks Lodge president Tim Polzin, won the age 10-11 division at the Elks Lodge state Hoop Shoot Contest.

Several Summerville Elks Lodge 2719 members attended the South Carolina State Hoop Shoot contest in Orangeburg on March 1.

Representing the Summerville lodge, Tiana Whitehead claimed the age 10-11 girls’ division state title.

As a State Hoop Shoot winner, Whitehead advanced to the regional competition in Valdosta, Ga.

Summerville Elks Lodge 2719 has held the Hoop Shoot contest for young people since the lodge’s inception in 1986. One of the missions of the lodge is to encourage youth to succeed and become a successful part of our community.
