Letter to the Editor - Advice for McConnell

  • Wednesday, March 26, 2014

To the Editor:

I would like to remind the petition group opposing Glenn McConnell as the College of Charleston president to read John 19; 10.

Pilate is telling Jesus, do you not know I have the power to crucify or release you? Jesus tells him, “You could have no power at all against me unless it be given you from above .”

I have never met Lt. Gov. McConnell, but have respected him over the years for his honesty, dedication and outspokenness for improvements for all South Carolinians.

He is too valuable a person to limit himself to president of any college, much less one that is over run with such negativity. I would suggest to McConnell that he excuse himself from this pink triangle mess and get on with being the great statesman and gentleman that he is!

Pilate thinkers will only tear down his legislative and local support system, keeping him from the work he has been called to do. I would also suggest that he withdraw his good name and let the College of Charleston keep their so called academic freedom .

True freedom is God and Country, and no college level presidency can equal that!
