To the Editor:

Junior Service League of Summerville is proud to be celebrating 25 years of service in the Dorchester County area. For 25 years, the JSL has played a pivotal role in promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving the Summerville community. As an organization, we remain committed to serve our community! The Junior Service League of Summerville was founded in 1988 by a group of extraordinary women who were interested in bettering Summerville.

Over the last 25 years, the JSL has committed to community projects and community organizations through volunteerism and fund-raising. The JSL on average volunteers over 4,000 hours a year to 21 different community organizations and raises funds through Scarecrows on Square and Ghostwalk for the Dorchester District 2 and 4 schools, community organizations with the John Tupper Golf Classic, and small grant funding through other events from the provisional projects and other various fundraisers to support our community’s organizational needs.

JSL has been, and will continue to be, an instrumental force for positive change in our community. Our members reflect a wide range of backgrounds, interests, and professional and personal pursuits. We work together to identify the communities unmet needs, forge effective coalitions, and work for change.

We would like to thank all of our members, community partners, and sponsors, past and present, for helping us make a difference in Dorchester County. We could not have done it without all of you. We are here celebrating our 25th year because you believed in us.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
