Public invited to town hall-style meeting

  • Thursday, March 27, 2014

On March 4 residents of Brownsville got some face-time with Mayor Bill Collins when the mayor answered questions from the community in a Town Hall-style meeting.

Now a new meeting is in the works, organized again by Louis Smith, founder of the Community Resource Center. This time the meeting will feature Dorchester District Two Superintendent Joe Pye.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. on April 2, again at Doty Park.

It will be a time for Pye to answer questions that the community might have and, perhaps, address any concerns the public has for the school district.

Smith came to DD2’s most recent board meeting on March 24 to inform attendees that the meeting has been scheduled and that Pye had agreed to take the panel and answer people’s questions.

DD2 Public Information Officer Pat Raynor said she expects the public to have questions about the goings-on within the school district.

“Pye is looking forward to it and it’s a great opportunity to speak with the community, and we hope a lot of people will come,” she said. “I know they’ll definitely open it up for questions from the audience.”
