The Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics (GSSM) is now accepting applications for CREATEng, GSSM’s new summer day camp for rising ninth graders in the Upstate and Lowcountry. The online application is available at: www.scgssm.org/createng
CREATEng is a one-of-a-kind, four-day immersion into engineering and design-based thinking for rising ninth graders in Berkeley, Charleston, Dorchester and Greenville counties. Working in teams, students will engage in a problem-based curriculum where they apply principles of engineering design to solve daily challenges.
CREATEng will be held at Fort Dorchester High School June 23-26, serving Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, and at Greenville High Academy July 14-17, serving Greenville County. The camp will operate from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. The cost is $250 per student, which includes meals and instructional materials. Financial aid is available.
Acceptance to the CREATEng program is based on academic achievement. Rising ninth graders who have demonstrated scholarship in science, math, technology or engineering, and desire an academically challenging experience are strong candidates.
The application deadline is April 28. Financial aid is available on a first come, first served basis.
