Preps Wrap: AR, FD athletes place at Wando

The Ashley Ridge and Fort Dorchester track and field teams both had some success during the Mellow Mushroom Relays held at Wando High School last weekend.

Fort Dorchesterís Jasmine Quinn leaped 18-feet, 10.25 inches to win the Womenís Long Jump event.

Fort Dís Jacob Hutchinson tied for first place in the Menís Pole Vault. Both he and Hanahanís John Torlay had a 12-00.00 vault.

Ashley Ridge senior Sean White had a 21-00.00 mark in the Menís Long Jump to place third.

The Patriot menís relay teams also did well. The Fort 1600-meter Sprint Medley team placed first with a 3:40.19 time. The Fort 4x800 relay team placed first with an 8:20.91 time. The Fort 4x200 relay team placed fourth with a 1:32.84 time.

The Ashley Ridge menís 4x1600 relay team placed third with a 19:15.56 time.

On the soccer pitch, the Summerville girls defeated Stratford 2-0 Wednesday. Junior Madison Reeves and senior Ariana Brown had the goals and junior Amber Howell had the shutout in goal as the Lady Green Wave improved to 2-4 on the season.

The Fort Dorchester baseball team came up just short in Beaufort Wednesday. The Eagles scored 3 runs in the bottom of the first inning and held the Patriots to a single run in the second.

Senior Corey Rawlings struck out nine batters in the losing effort. The Fort run came off a homerun by junior Eurndraus Bryant.

The Patriots dropped to 5-2 on the season and 0-1 in Region 8-AAAA. Beaufort improved to 4-1, 1-0.

Fort Dorchester travels to Ashley Ridge for another region game March 28.
