All signs point to a showdown at Ashley Ridge next week.

The Ashley Ridge boys’ soccer team hosts Fort Dorchester at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Both teams are off to a good start so the match should be competitive.

On Tuesday the Patriots improved to 5-1-0 with a 1-1 mark in Region 8-AAAA with a 4-1 win over Goose Creek.

Andrew Veloso, Christian Baker, Koh Matsumoto and Michael Sandoval had the goals for Fort Dorchester.

The Patriots are the defending region champions. This season, they have a region win over Beaufort and a region loss to Summerville.

Ashley Ridge (6-2-0) plays its first region contest of the season Friday evening. The Swamp Foxes are coming off a 1-0 win over West Ashley Tuesday.

Midfielder Lenny Miret scored the game’s sole goal and Stockton Blanchard had the shutout in goal.

The Patriots returned 14 lettermen from last season while the Swamp Foxes returned 10.

However, both teams are counting on some new players to fill key roles this season.
