  • Friday, April 4, 2014

Dorchester County Fire Rescue and the Dorchester County Career and Technology Center each received a South Carolina State Firefighters’ Association (SCSFA) grant for volunteer recruitment and retention.

Each year, SCSFA implements initiatives and grant programs to promote firefighting awareness, as well as provide education, training, and benefits. As part of SCSFA’s commitment to the state’s fire departments, Dorchester, Newberry, Oconee, Barnwell, Chester, Lancaster, Spartanburg, Sumter, and Richland Counties received grant awards for their firefighting efforts.

Dorchester County Fire Rescue will receive grant funds for materials to help raise awareness of the growing demand for volunteer firefighters. The County will receive brochures, informative flyers, business cards, and yard signs to help promote this campaign.

Dorchester County Career and Technology Center’s firefighting Career and Technology Education (CATE) program received $7,500. These funds are to be used for items such as firefighting equipment/supplies, textbooks, and computers.
