Robert R. and Sandra L. Schutts of Summerville will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary on April 4. The couple was married on April 4, 1964 in Racine, Wis., at the Evangelical United Methodist Church.
Robert “Bob” Schutts was born in Menomonee, Wis. He transferred to Summerville from Wisconsin in 1980 with Kroger Food Stores. He retired from the grocery business, where he worked for 46 years, in 2008 from Piggly Wiggly. Bob was a longtime volunteer firefighter and retired as an assistant chief from Old Fort Fire Department. He loves fishing and spends a lot of time at the couple’s lake house in Eutawville.
Sandra “Sandy” Bell was born in Davenport, Iowa. She retired from Oakbrook Custom Embroidery in 2009 after 20 years. Sandy was an avid bowler and coached youth bowling for 20 years in Wisconsin and Summerville. She also sang in her church choir for 40 years.
The couple have three children and five grandchildren.
Their children are Daniel and Michele Schutts of Aiken, Debra and Joseph Colombo of New Jersey, and Denise and Patrick Coffey of California. Their grandchildren are Kesley and Alexis, Jillian and Samuel and John.
The family will celebrate the occasion this July in Folly Beach during a week-long beach house rental.
