The South Carolina Department of Public Safety honored a North Charleston Police Department officer April 2 for exceptional DUI law enforcement.
Patrolman First Class Jonathan W. Lawrence of NCPD made 100 DUI arrests in 2013.
He was one of four who were honored for removing impaired drivers from roadways, based on agency size. PFC Lawrence won in the “101 or more officers” category. He was also awarded as a DUI Gold Hero for making 50 or more DUI arrests.
Several other local officers were awarded for high performance.
NCPD officers PFC Chad Gantt, PFC Bradley Woods, PFC Anthony J. King, PFC Giovanni Brown and PFC Bradford Molina were recognized as DUI Silver Heroes for making 25-49 DUI arrests.
DUI Bronze Heroes, who made 10 – 24 DUI arrests, are: PFC Furman Brown of Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office; PFC Michael Intini, PFC Thomas Bennett, Jr., PFC James Marshall and PFC Bryan Young of NCPD; and PFC Antonio Gantt, PFC Robert Blajszczak, PFC Marc Bailey and PFC Kenneth Driscoll of Summerville Police Department.
The officers were recognized at the DUI Enforcement Recognition and 2013 Law Enforcement DUI Challenge ceremonies, which too place April 2 for the 2013 year.
