DD2 adjusts policies to foreign exchange program

  • Friday, April 11, 2014

The Dorchester School District Two Board of Trustees recently updated the policy and administrative rule governing the foreign exchange program for students. Students desiring to attend Ashley Ridge High School, Fort Dorchester High School and Summerville High School for the 2014-2015 school year through the foreign exchange program should review the updated guidelines below:

• The district will admit a limited number of students from foreign countries to attend district high schools that are the age of eligibility and that are participating in a foreign exchange program designated by the U.S. State Department.

• The district will accommodate no more than four total exchange students at each of the district’s high schools in a given year.

• Host families must reside within the boundaries of Dorchester School District Two in order to place a student in one of the district’s high schools.

• Students will be placed in a junior (11th grade) homeroom for the full academic year.

Those interested in participating in the Dorchester School District Two foreign exchange student program must submit a letter of interest by April 30 to:

Elena Furnari

Director of High Schools
