On Wednesday, March 19, The Village at Summerville was host to the baptism of the fifth generation of Joe Holleman’s family. Holleman is a long time Independent Living resident of The Village at Summerville and a resident of Summerville since 1961.
Holleman invited family and friends to the Village Chapel for the baptism of his great granddaughter Salena Ramsay Dunlap.
Salena has an interesting tie to the Presbyterian Church and Summerville, as she is a direct descendent of John Knox, a Scottish clergyman who lived in the 1500’s and was considered to be the founder of the Presbyterian denomination in Scotland.
Her parents Marie Tompkins Dunlap and Timothy Dunlap, as well as her grandmother, Dr. Sarah Brown, and and her great grandmother Betty Murray Gabrielli celebrated Salena’s baptism. Salena’s great-great grandmothers Marie Neal Murray and Adele Elizabeth Milling McKay also attended in spirit as they resided and spent their final days at The Village at Summerville. The baptism was well attended and was officiated by the Village Chaplain, Achim Daffin.
