Friend request with benefits

On April 4 a Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office deputy was dispatched to a Summerville home in reference to sexual exposure. According to the victim’s statement, the suspect, a 22-year-old male, sent the 15-year-old female victim inappropriate pictures on Facebook, where they are friends. The victim said she had previously informed the suspect she was 15 and that she did not want him to send her any pictures. After he sent the inappropriate photo she blocked all communication with him on social media.

Cyber bullying

A Summerville High School student reported harassment to Summerville Police Department on April 9. The victim, 20, of Ladson, said her cousin has been bullying and harassing her on Facebook and Twitter. She showed the officer a screen shot of the offending messages. The victim told the officer she is in fear for her safety and the messages are affecting her school attendance. SPD contacted the victim’s mother, who said the offenses have been taking place since the beginning of the school year, and she tried to confront the suspect’s mother about the problems but was met with negative results.

‘Do your chores’

A night of babysitting turned violent on April 3 in a Ridgeville home. According to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office police report, the juvenile suspect became violent after the babysitter confronted him about doing his chores. The suspect then attacked the victim, the babysitter’s younger brother, biting him in his leg. The suspect also tried to attack his stepsister, but was diverted. After the suspect made verbal threats and went to the kitchen for a knife the babysitter called police. By the time DCSO arrived on the scene the suspect’s father had also arrived home, and made the decision to transport the suspect to MUSC for a psychological evaluation, as he had had similar violent outbreaks before.

Happy hump day

On April 5 a North Charleston woman called Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office to report a simple assault. She told the deputy on the phone that after exiting the Food Lion grocery store on Ashley Phosphate Road an unknown male suspect grabbed her around her waist and began to hump her. After she pulled away, the suspect ran off into the woods.

He did not make any threats, she said, but did make grunting noises while behind her. The victim also told the deputy she noticed the man while shopping in the store. The officer reported to the scene to look for the suspect using the victim’s description, but was unsuccessful.
