Sawmill Branch Trail section closed until winter

  • Friday, April 18, 2014

By way of the Dorchester County Sales Tax Transportation Authority Contract, Banks Construction Company will begin construction activities for Phase 1 of the Sawmill Branch Bridge on Bacons Bridge Road that will require a temporary closure of the multiuse path and associated parking lot at Sawmill Branch Bridge until December of 2014.

The multiuse path, known as Sawmill Branch Trail, and parking lot are being closed due to their close vicinity to the bridge construction and equipment in an attempt to avoid any potential hazards to the traveling public.

The closure began April 17, 2014. The trail will be reopened when construction concludes in December.

To accommodate town residents during the closing a temporary parking lot has been established, which has direct access to the trail.

The SCE&G gravel lot on Bacons Bridge Road, between Paradise Pools and Holly Street, will be available for daytime use.

Vehicles should at no time be blocking the access gates to the Sub Station.
