The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood watch for Summerville and St. George in Dorchester County after a “persistent band of moderate to heavy rainfall” throughout Friday and into Saturday morning.

The watch will remain in effect until 6 a.m.

A flash flood warning has been issued for parts of Berkeley and Charleston counties.

The NWS advised residents to “be prepared to protect life and property … especially in areas prone to flooding. If flooding develops … move to higher ground immediately. If driving, be prepared for flooded roadways and possible road closures.”
