Thanks, Doc

Dear Editor:

Please allow me through our hometown newspaper to thank Dr. Kenneth Sharpe of Retina Consultants of Charleston/Ladson office for his excellent eye care of my husband Harold George Jr.

Harold and I both had not known anyone in our family or circle of friends who had suffered a detached retina, so it came as a shock to us when he bumped his head pretty hard last spring resulting in his eye retina becoming detached. From that day on our lives changed, and we both now have a keener sense of appreciation of sight, others with eye impairments, and of course our Great Physician Jesus himself, working through doctors like Kenneth Sharpe, who allow HIM to use their hands and knowledge to bring about our healing, in HIS perfect timing.

Haroldís eye health is still a work in progress and other doctors have and will continue to see him through to full recovery, but in this part of the process of healing Dr. Sharpe deserves our thanks and deep appreciation for his hard work , dedication and big heart that comes from God.

Thank you, Dr. Sharpe , we will never forget your kindness, patience , compassion , and devotion to seeing Harold uplifted and made to feel like he was your favorite patient.

Fan of Byars

Dear Editor:

Iíve been proud of my Dorchester County Councilman Jay Byars throughout his one term on council. Heís brought a business minded approach to council. He looks at decisions as a return on investment, what is in the best interest of taxpayers, and how to streamline and consolidate government. Thatís the kind of private sector experience we need on County Council.

As an Ashborough East resident, Iím seeing firsthand Jayís ability to get things done. His idea to prioritize Cooks Crossroads intersection has resulted in much needed congestion relief at the Highways 61 and 165 intersection. He also got funded the Highway 1654 widening to Ashley Ridge High School and an extension of the Sawmill Branch Trail right beside my neighborhood.

And as far as being responsive, Jay is also available by email and phone to talk about the issues Ė even when itís a struggle of an issue like Dorchester Road has been. Jay has been our advocate from the beginning and has kept an open line of communication despite contractor mistakes.

I know my family and my community is better served by Jay Byars being my county councilman and thatís why I am supporting him for reelection on June 10.
